Let me begin by stating that it is refreshing to get away from the pure fantasy elements and tween drama sweeping the literary world at the moment. In the second book of Shaun Penney's Eve trilogy you get a beautiful mixture of Western dystopian with Eastern combat and themes.The book is essentially broken into three narratives which give a little something to the bigger picture and a different taste to the reader. One story will continue to follow Carol as she struggles with themes of identity and trust. The second narrative puts the reader behind Vanguard, a character seen but not really delved into in The Death of Eve, which helps fill the action quota and touches a little more on identity. The final main narrative brings in a fresh face with Gen, a computer savvy woman who is looking to save the rest of the dying female population in a setting similar to Blade Runner.
Only real complaints with the book is that a lot of time is spent re-interating events from the first book that it seems like padding to help new people jump in but returning readers might roll their eyes. The writing has vastly improved since The Death of Eve and hints at bigger things to come. So if you like action, drama, wastelands, cyber-punk cities, or samurai I recommend you give this story a read.

Like the last review I dont write reviews professionally. But can tell you about my experience reading it. First the characters. Old and new you can't get enough of them.. you grow an emotional attachment to a few characters. Some you love and some you hate... or do you.. by the end of the book you are slightly confused on your feelings towards certain characters. You end up liking ones you didn't. Or at least I did. Second Like the other review I like the different stories going on at the same time and how it all comes together.. never leaving you confused. But completely in wow. The book is very descriptive, making you seem as though you are there. Or if you are not sure on what something is.. it is described. I had a very hard time putting the book down. The only thing I don't like is having to wait for the 3rd book.. I can't wait until its release. I guarantee you will enjoy this dystopian novel.

I could not stop reading it because i had to know what was going to happen next. It was entertaining, will make you grin, smile, giggle, frown, say "awww" a bunch of times, will make you say "what?", "no way!!" and "you bastard" several times.
It is post-apocalyptic science fiction with a bad a** heroine and the characters are described in a way that you understand their own personality. I like how this book has different stories happening at the same time that at the end they clash and make an awesome ending...it basically goes KABOOM!
